The artwork and architecture of Anuradhapura are too numerous to mention; among them are ancient Buddha statues showing the influence of Greek art and also some of he world’s largest stupas. Today morning after breakfast and check out from hotel leave for Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century AD. This ancient city is today one of the most beautiful centres of this island’s cultural heritage. In its prime, the city, inside it’s 3½ miles strong encircling walls, housed hundreds of thousands of people. The remains of this ancient city comprised of many buildings and irrigation works. The buildings, mainly brick structures, included the inner city area (with two palace complexes of two different kings), inner & outer city walls, a number of monastic complexes with stupas, image houses & dwelling cells of monks. Also contained were refectories, assembly halls (chapter house, bathing pond etc). After your sightseeing later continue your driver Sigiriya.

Better known, as the “Lion Rock” is a Citadel rising up to 560ft from the surrounding area. The popular frescoes of the maidens of heaven are found in the caves of this rock. After sightseeing proceed for Kandy, which is the last and most popular kingdom in the history of Sri Lanka.
